It’s A Wings 103 Throwback Takeover Weekend!
Written by Sean Cantwell on June 25, 2020
This July 4th marks 30 years since the launch of Lapeer’s first station dedicated to alternative rock. (And, well, last until Solid State Radio came around.) So, this 4th of July weekend, we’re taking a trip back to the 90’s with a full weekend of vintage alternative tracks, hosted by some of your favorite Wings 103 DJ’s!
Kicking it all off Friday July 3rd will be our very own Mitch Gill! You probably know him better these days for his stand-up comedy and as the voice of Solid State Radio, but Mitch spent much of the 90’s as host of “The Morning Air Corps” on Wings 103. Join “Mitch and the Morning Wood” as they kick off the weekend with a special Morning Air Corps Friday from 6-10AM!
Nick “At Night” Anderson will be joining our own Adam Harahuc Friday night starting at 7!
As it turns out, Adam’s been doing local music shows longer than we realized… we’ve managed to dig up some vintage Sessions tapes from 1996, back when it was still “Sunday Night Sessions,” and we’ll be playing a few of those classic shows Saturday and Sunday night at 9!
We’re even bringing back the Weekend Blues Review with Jim Jaymes, Sunday morning from 10 to noon!
We’ve got a few other surprises in store as well, so watch this space for more details, and tune in all next weekend on Solid State Radio.net or the Solid State Radio app!
