Hi, my name is Eddie Fury. I graduated from Deckerville High School, the day after graduation I went and joined the United States Marine Corp. I did my stint in Desert Storm and even had the privilege to meet President George Bush.
After the service, I returned home with doubts of what I was going to do with my life, so I did some serious thinking (in other words partied a lot). It finally caught up with me though, when I was involved in a motorcycle accident. It was on my near death bed that I realized my life was going nowhere! So I went to college at St. Claire Community College in Port Huron.
It was there that I discovered my fascination of radio and television. Music has always been a hobby of mine, so I thought, why not get paid to do it? It was a dream come true!
In college my virgin broadcasting career took off in “94.” A music director there took me under his wing and showed me the ropes, eventually I took over his job and had one of the most respected shows in the college music industry abroad.
I wanted to know and was ready to get my feet wet in commercial radio. A friend told me to give Tony Labrie a call and see if there was a possible intern position available. What I got was more than I hoped for! I was hired to do weekends! A dream come true, to be on commercial radio and have it be WINGS 103!
One thing I always say is, the sky is the limit, believe in yourself, work hard and stay dedicated and don’t be afraid to voice your opinion, the worst they can say is no!
